Social Media Strategy: Why is it important?

Essentially, a social media strategy will tie in to the brand's marketing communications objectives, which in turn are linked to both the brand's marketing goals and ultimately business needs.

Social media activity that does not have a strategy is aimless. It does not work towards reaching the brand's target audience and it makes it more difficult to measure the success of your campaign. For example, how do you know if you have reached your goal if the brand's objectives have not been properly identified?
